Wedding cakes are one of the more important elements of a wedding. It plays a good part of the ritual, so to speak. Couples cut their cake at the reception. They also take the first bite of it before all the other guests take their share in eating them. Wedding cakes signifies the first meal the couple share together as married individuals. Celebrity brides certainly know how to make their cakes. And if you have the money to spend on this wedding necessity, you’ll surely love to get some inspiration from the most popular wedding cakes served by famous couples.
Kate Middleton’s cake is one of the most photographed cakes this decade. Hers is an elegant wedding cake indeed, with each layer intricately designed and frosted. Her cake is eight tiers high and is the perfect fit for a royal wedding that hers has been.
Another great-looking and undoubtedly wonderfully tasting wedding cake is the one served by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds on their wedding day. Theirs is a vanilla and sour cream wedding cake made by Maggie Austin. Their cake, which is too high for four layers, is complete with peach apricot preserves to complete its flavor.
There are other high profile wedding cakes used by celebrities on their big days. But just as there were multi-tiered wedding cakes, there are fairly simple ones too. Prince Diana’s cake is one of the highest cakes ever created. Compared to her cake, Kate Middleton’s is a miniature.
However, there are some celebrities who content themselves with small, three-layered cakes. Simple cakes like that are very common among the celebrity weddings held two decades ago. Not all celebrities wanted their cakes to be bigger than life so they opted for small.
For regular, non-celebrity brides like you and me, the cakes of the rich and famous are indeed great ones to imitate. However, there’s more than enough reason for you to create your own instead copying theirs. After all, the couple taking the oath is more important than the cake itself.
